2020 US PGA Championship

Just before the 2017 US PGA Championship, the PGA announced that the Championship will move to May from 2019.

Alongside the other majors, winners of the PGA are entitled to certain privileges that help offer some career security. The PGA Champion is automatically invited to play across the three other majors (Masters Tournament, US Open Championship and The Open Championship) and the Player’s Championship for the five years following their win. And are eligible for the PGA Championship for life. Winners also receive membership of the PGA Tour for the following five seasons and on the European Tour for the following seven seasons.

Held at a number of venues across the US, the PGA Championship is most often played at one of a small number of celebrated courses which has also hosted other leading events including the US Open and the Ryder Cup.

It is an official money event on the PGA Tour, European Tour, and Japan Golf Tour, with a purse of $10 million since the 97th edition in 2015.

Originally set up as a high profile tournament specifically for professional golfers, as opposed to wealthy amateurs, entry to the PGA Championship still reflects that aim. It is the only major that does not explicitly invite leading amateurs to compete and the only one that reserves places for club professionals.

The 2020 PGA Championship, the 102nd PGA Championship, will be held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California between 14 May, 2020 and 17 May, 2020.
