Rugby Union Betting Markets

Rugby Union is a huge global betting phenomenon with major Rugby Union games almost every week of the year with the Southern Hemisphere starting it’s season as the Northern Hemisphere slows down plus touring teams playing all the way through the year. Most major Rugby Union betting sites offer over many betting markets on a single game.

But what do all these betting markets mean? Here’s a simple explanation of the most popular Rugby Union betting markets:

Match Odds (Full Time Result) – 80 regulation minute match result. Home win, away win or draw.

Handicap Betting – This is the most common way of betting on a rugby union game. Odds are offered on the result at the end of the game with the Home side and/or Away side being handicapped by a number of points. For example Home win + 3, if the Home team draw 7-7 the bet would win because you add in the +3 points so the actual handicapped result is 10-7.

Race to Points – The first team to reach a specific point target. For example the first team to 10 points

Winning Margin – How many points a team will win by.

Team to score first – Bet which team will score first. Also bet which team will score a try first.
